Hello. My name is Andrew. Over the previous 24 years my career has been associated with communications, computers, business and finance. My extensive business & computer knowledge has complemented my partners which has helped to create a synergy  - 99% of the time - we do talk about non-business related matters about 1% of the time.

Since moving to Cyprus from the UK it is plain to see that local Cyprus businesses work very differently from the UK. Trust in Cyprus seems to be a rare commodity -  UNLESS of course you are KNOWN - not easy when starting a NEW business in a NEW country. However, the great advantage with the World Wide Web is that it cannot be dominated by any specific country, culture or company - the rules are universal - who you know becomes irrelevant. What works in the UK, USA and Europe, will also work in the Middle East & Cyprus. My global business & computer experience will count towards setting your business on the right course for success:

“Having left school at 17 years of age I joined the Royal Navy as an Engineering Mechanic. During this period I became a 1st Class engineering Mechanic (SEE: record of qualifications) and was assessed as having an Exemplary character (SEE: character assessment) - I received a medal whilst serving in the first Gulf War. Following my departure I started a number of successful businesses:

Security installation engineer (1990) – Despite an extremely sever recession following the Lawson boom; security became a growth sector due mainly to the increase in crime following a huge increase in unemployment. During the next five years sales turnover increased exponentially and following such a successful period the business was sold (SEE TRAINING: City & Guilds in Electronic Systems, International Correspondence School - Computer Programming, Hamilton & Palmer Anti-Theft systems training course, City & Guilds Institution of Electrical Engineers wiring regulations for installations).

Managing Director, Digital Direct (1996) - As MD of Digital Direct, I focused the company's’ attention away from the local retail sector (B2C) and concentrated on international import and export (B2B). Within a period of four years, turnover had increased from tens of thousands to fourteen million (US dollars). Accelerating growth led us to acquire land and develop our own warehouse and storage facilities. During this period of growth a major project for our company - in which I played a predominant role - was the design and implementation of the computer systems (LAN) and implementation of an online Ecommerce system. Shortly after this period, our customer base expanded and included household names such as British Telecom and Carphone Warehouse. As the company personnel increased my role became involved with international sourcing of products & hedging against currency fluctuations. Following the fallout of the dotcom boom, I resigned my position to spend more time working on future developments (SEE TRAINING: Higher National Certificate in Business & Finance, Sage Computer Accounting, Sales Promotion Course).   

Software Research & Development (2002) - Over the past six years I have been involved with research and development of financial (currency) software. Trading in conjunction with HSBC and Interactive Brokers platforms, software has been developed with particular emphasis on Technical analysis. I have since become an associate member of the Society of Technical Analysts. During this research period, information and help has been provided by the Centre for Advanced Software and Intelligent Systems (CASIS), in conjunction with Cardiff and Aberystwyth Universities. This project has now been concluded and the results will be published online shortly.

Since joining Europe in May 2004, Cyprus has become an attractive destination for the establishment of a business. Despite the current turbulence in the global economy and perceived slow down, I am looking forward to the challenges that lay ahead - the global economy will always offer opportunity.
